Prompt: In ten minutes, write a story about this house.

My story:

When I got the notice that a mysterious great-aunt had left me a house to inherit, I had grandiose ideas of what it would be like. The whole ride over there, I pictured a cozy little place where I would solve mysteries, discover a time travel machine, or even fall in love with some handsome stranger. In any case, I was sure to become the main character on an awesome adventure.

Now, I know some of the darker adventures can end up being a dumpster fire for the protagonist, but this place was a dump and was clearly good for nothing besides firewood. I mean, I pulled up to this place and immediately felt the slowly growing rage at having my adventure stolen from me. How dare this random dead lady get my hopes up like that?

As I stepped into the place, the floor groaned loudly and I began to curse under my breath about all the work it would take just to tear it all down. Some inheritance, I thought as I carefully walked into the next room. My foot came down on a part of the floor which suddenly gave way, and I went plummeting downward.

To my shock, I did not stop in a basement or anything I would have expected, but I just kept falling. Instead of darkness, I was consumed by a blinding light that seemed somehow otherworldly. When at last my feet came to rest on solid ground, then light dissipated and I gasped as I looked around me.

Colorful forestry surrounded me on every side, as well as the sounds of insects and beasts as I had never known. Well, I had gotten my adventure after all, I thought, just when a massive drop of thick liquid dropped onto my shoulder.

Glancing above and behind me, all I could do was tremble and stare at a huge animal that was licking its chops. Our eyes met and it broke into a grin.
