Prompt: In ten minutes, write a story involving one of these chairs and who you think would own it.

My story:

Edgar shuffled to the table with his plate and fork in hand. After setting them down, he leaned his palm into the back of the old, wooden chair. It was simple and solid, just as he had been for most of his life.

He let out a grunt with the effort of taking his seat, then paused to catch his breath. Then, he raised his fork, studying it for a moment if only to avoid glancing at the empty chair across from him.

The slice of pie in front of him was not his favorite kind, yet he had eaten it for forty years as if it had been. She had always made it with such love that he could not bear to let her know that cooked peaches tasted like gasoline to him.

She was not there to be disappointed by him anymore. Still, he had a feeling that she was nearby as he slowly took the first bite.
